Peter Haines was born in Columbus, Ohio and currently resides in Boston. He has a bachelor's degree from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, as well as an M.B.A. from Harvard University. His work has been exhibited in one-person exhibitions in New York, Boston, Columbus, and Rhode Island.
Casting bronze in his own foundry, Haines works in both large-scale and small. His sculpture has a tactile organic presence juxtaposed with a precision of form that is extraordinary. The works shown above, have a monumental vital presence despite their intimate scale. Their visual authority is a function of their refined reductive forms, clean utilization of line, and compact unadorned geometry. Yet, there is an intimacy which is inherent in these organic, rounded forms and subtle, softly-toned patinas which engages the viewer's emotions.
Peter has stated, astutely, that his work is where nature and geometry intersect. This phenomenon lends the visual sophistication and alluring qualities to Peter's sculpture which his viewers admire.
